| Tie-on pockets like these were necessary to the eighteenth & early nineteenth century housewife’s wardrobe during a time when women’s clothes rarely had sewn-in pockets. This pair of pockets are made of printed cotton fabric with cotton twill tape waist ties. All visible work is sewn by hand.
We also have two examples of embroidered pockets: one blue & white and one polychrome. |
