| Needlework upholstery is colorful, durable and adds lively interest to a room setting. Polychrome irish stitch patterns such as this one were popular during the eighteenth century as a decorative alternatives to chairs upholstered with woolens such moreen or harrateen. They were made by affluent housewives as well as professional embroiderers--the making of a full set at home often involved the hands of numerous pairs of female hands.
We frequently make needlework seat coverings, either in large or small sets, or as custom upholstery for a single chair. Allow about 4 weeks for each chair seat. |
