| This is not intended as a reproduction of a period doll, per se; rather, it is a cloth versions of a period doll with miniature reproduction clothing. Each garment has been made as period doll clothing was—considerably smaller than full size, but retaining a surprising amount of detail. Any removable clothing is held in place with straight pins—as women’s clothing often was before buttons came into regular use.
Dressed in a typical 18th century lady's clothing this doll has a hand-painted linen body & handmade clothes, in this case the articles of clothing are sewn in place and not intended to be taken on and off. |
