| 18th century bed hangings served some of the same and some different purposes as a reproduction set does today. Even though we no longer use them to create warmth and privacy in drafty, crowded homes, we admire them for the heroic human effort they represent. They are visual evidence of their owner's fondness for beautiful handwork and period style. |
